The Love of Jesus Christ

Knowing the love of Jesus compels us to love Him more and to love others as He has loved us. Loving God and loving others is an unconscious response; the result of being loved, safe and secured in Jesus' love.

The Love of Jesus - Abide in His Love - John 15:9Resting On The Love of Jesus

Aren't we putting the cart before the horse by trying to love God more over knowing His love for us?

There was once when I thought that I can please God more if I spend more time in reading and studying of the Bible, waking up early to seek His face, be kind to others, and if I have a problem, I would have to go into a time of prayer and fasting to get His attention.

Oh how pitiful I was!

The Love of Jesus Set Me Free

Thank God that He set me free!  From a life of self atonement, of working so hard to please Him to a life of freedom; confident and secured in His deep love for me.

The more I know and am conscious of His love and care for me, the more I am set free from worries and fear and the cares of the world.

Indeed, when we know the truth, the truth shall set us free.

John 8:31-32  (NKJV) The Truth Will Set You Free

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Jesus in John 14:6, said that He is the way, the truth and the life.

And in John 1:14 and 17, the apostle John who called himself the disciple whom Jesus loved, wrote:

And the Word (Christ) became flesh, and lived among us; and we [actually] saw His glory, glory as belongs to the [One and] only begotten Son of the Father, [the Son who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, who is] full of grace and truth (absolutely free of deception). - John 1:14 ((Amplified Bible)

For the Law was given through Moses, but grace [the unearned, undeserved favor of God] and truth came through Jesus Christ.  - John 1:17 (Amplified Bible)

John was referring to Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, full of grace and truth. Jesus is the embodiment of grace and truth.

No! Not just an expression but He is the whole package. He is grace and truth.

Grace and truth is a Person. And this Person is Jesus Christ.

So if we know Jesus, we know grace and truth and we shall be set free to love. For everything we have in Christ is nothing but the unmerited favors of God. Nothing we can do can please God. What He has for us; blessings and favors are all unmerited; undeserving and freely given. Not really free because Jesus had already paid the price for this wonderful gift of a good life.

Praise the LORD!

Know Jesus! Know the Truth!

Who is Jesus? We did discussed here in detail.

When we know Jesus who is grace and truth, we shall be set free. Set free to live the good life; the abundant life that Jesus promised in John 10:10.

John 10:10 (NKJV)

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

I realised that the more I know Jesus; His love and sacrifice on the cross, the more I'm able to appropriate the abundant life He promised.

As I read, learn, understand and know more about the love of Jesus Christ for me, more about Him day by day, I am unconsciously losing the fears and worries of life and gaining peace, joy and strength for each day.

It is not an effort to be more peaceful, to be more kind, to be more holy, or more righteous.

But as I remain in Christ, the Beloved Son of God, I am peaceful because He is Peace, I am kind because He is Love, I am righteous because He is the Righteous One of God.

And because of the love of Jesus, I'm moved to good works in Him.

The Love of Jesus Compels Us

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 (NKJV)

For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.

The word compels is so interesting. According to dictionary.com, it is 'to force or drive, especially to a course of action' and according to Merriam Webster, it means 'to drive or urge forcefully or irresistibly, to cause to do or occur by overwhelming pressure'.

Love of Jesus compels us. Meaning of compels according to Merriam Webster.Definition by Merriam Webster

Well, the love of Jesus; Jesus' love for us will certainly has that effect on us. Knowing that Jesus cares for us and deeply love us so much so that He would come into the world to sacrifice Himself on the cross; died in our place, will surely compels us to love Him back and do everything that will please Him.

He who is without sin gave His life for us sinners.

2 Corinthians 5:21, 'He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.' and

1 John 3:5, 'You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin.'

Compelled by love for us, Jesus died on the cross for our sins as our substitute. He who is without sin became sin so that we who are sinful became righteous in Him.

What an exchange!

We became the righteousness of God in Christ because Jesus made that great exchange because of His love for us. What a Saviour! The love of Jesus compels Him to the cross and now the same love compels us to love and serve Him back.

Hallelujah! We are so blessed by the love of Jesus Christ indeed.

Practice The Presence of God

Once a while especially during a stressful and busy day, take a break.

Close your eyes and lean back against the bosom of Jesus and feel His embrace.

Let Him take away the cares of the world and enjoy His Presence.
